Bernard Buffet was born in Paris in 1928. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, and worked under the painter Narbonne. He worked in paint, etching, lithography, design and sculpture producing landscapes, portraits, still-lives, and religious work. He reached his peak of success in the 1950s and had showed at many high profile solo exhibitions. He was married to the writer and singer Annabel Schwob. He committed suicide in October 1999 as he was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and was unable to work
